Character Challenge – Jemma – Day 3 & 4

Jemma Watley

Day 3

JemmaDay3-2979ep

Choose a different time period and describe what your character would have been like in that time period.

If she were in early to mid 1900’s, she would probably enjoy wearing the long tight dresses with the lace and high collars. But she would probably be the one to wear a sexy girdle underneath and get tipsy on wine and flirt with the unsuspecting newsboy. (She is not outwardly flirty by nature, but sometimes a few drinks can get her in trouble.) She would stay out after dark and hang over the rails at the saloon watching the men play their jazz and swing music, but would probably not be able to join in, else be considered a floozey. She might be a backup singer or sing on the corners for pennies. She might be the first one to get knocked up because she wasn’t educated enough in birth control.

Favorites and habits:

What are some of your character’s hobbies? What do they do with their time? Play guitar, play guitar, play guitar!! And bass. And sometimes the piano. And singing. And spending time flirting with her new man.

Favorite color? Blue!

Favorite music artists? Movies or TV shows? Books or authors? Actors? Her favorite music artist is Stevie Q because he sings her favorite new kids’ song “Did You Ever Wonder Why”. Kids music is the best – it’s just so fun and happy! She also likes pop singer Lola Belle from Bridgeport. She is totally music-focused so she doesn’t watch much TV or movies but thinks Lola’s actor boyfriend Kai Leiko is kinda hot.

Political stance? Are they active in politics or do they not care? She does not care one bit about politics – probably an influence of her mother. They are all corrupt anyway and only lie to us and take our money.

What are some of their pet peeves? She is pretty easy-going, but does not like being woken before noon, or having to get up early to do sing-a-grams all over town. In fact, the sing-a-grams themselves are becoming a huge pet peeve now. But waking up and being a light sleeper sucks, because then she ends up being tired all day and either surviving on energy drinks or passing out in public.

What sort of gifts do they like? Cars!! Her mother just gave her and her sister the family car, the red Ford Focus!! And pianos! Her mother also gave her a brand new grand piano!

What is their favorite time of day? Being a Night Owl, night.

Favorite weather? Sunny.

Season? Summer sun, baby!

Where do they like to spend their time? With her boyfriend and her daughter, or playing guitar or dancing at the club. Or at the keg stand.

Favorite food? Favorite drink? Hot drinks, soft drinks, or alcohol? Strawberry martinis to drink. Favorite food is cheese tofu, but Mom rarely has tofu in the house.

Favorite animal? Cat.

Do they have any pets? Do they want any? The family had three cats, two of which she got to know – Josie and Willow. Sadly they are passed on now.

What relaxes them? Playing guitar. And getting a massage from Phoenix.

Do they have any bad habits? She has a habit of talking out loud to herself and making arm gestures, especially when she is composing  a song in her head and she needs to iterate it, or she has an excellent idea for a musical riff. A composer needs to be expressive, right?

    • Haha… it would be her second fave. But yeah she does wear purple a lot – but it’s to match her hair. The color in her hair initially was a blueish-violet, but we decided to lighten it up later for a change. But yeah.. blue. 😆 She has a blue guitar!
